Project Engineer Highway Construction Manager

Job Summary

Monitor construction schedules and budgets while supervising trained technicians on roadway projects. Translate and implement project plans, evaluate construction operations, and provide material acceptance samples and tests. Complete project documentation for progress payments and contract changes, ensuring quality control activities are performed and back-checked. Communicate effectively with design teams, clients, and agencies to manage highway construction management responsibilities. Requires a Civil Engineering degree, DOT experience, and material certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • DOT Construction Management experience
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in construction inspection and construction layout staking
  • One or more of DOT construction material certification in: Aggregate Production, Bituminous Plant, Bituminous Street, Bridge Construction, Concrete Field, Concrete Plant, Concrete Strength, Grading and Base
  • Familiarity with state Department of Transportation standards
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Flexibility

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and Power Point)
  • CADD (MicroStation preferred)

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of topographic and construction surveying
  • Design experience
  • Have a solid understanding of DOT's consulting expectations and needs
  • Experience in roadway design using GEOPAK and MicroStation
  • U.S. Residency
