Job Summary
Prepare detailed project engineering designs for small to medium projects, including flow and pressure tables, pipe sizing, and instrumentation selection. Produce engineering drawings, purchase orders, and vendor documentation while ensuring all equipment meets applicable codes and client specifications. Supervise equipment fabrication, monitor testing results, and coordinate shipping between vendors and the customer. Perform field equipment startup, commissioning, and prepare logs, reports, and meeting minutes to document project status. Maintain awareness of technical developments and recommend improved products or sources to the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrable knowledge of engineering tools and methods
- Knowledge of boiler plant work practices
- Experience with engineering projects
- Knowledge of power plants or industrial equipment and operations
- Knowledge of pumps, valves, instrumentation, electrical equipment, and controls
- Knowledge of the process industry standards and safety codes (e.g., AWD D1.1, ASME B31., NFPA 85 and UBC)
- Exposure and/or demonstrated proficiency with hydraulic pipe modeling software such as AFT and/or Flow of Fluids
- BS in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical
- Proficient in the primary responsibilities of the position
- Experience with utility boilers, industrial furnaces and related equipment
- Competent in the use of Spreadsheet, Presentation and Word Processing software
- 3 to 5 years of project engineering experience with increasing responsibility in executing engineering projects
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Travel (<20%) local travel to support critical outage projects with extended work hours on occasion
- May require work in hot, dirty environments for periods of time
