Job Summary
Project Engineer I role supporting both office and field operations by assisting with project planning, coordination, documentation, and execution in alignment with budget, schedule, and contract requirements. Applies engineering principles in soils mechanics, hydraulics, structural theory, and surveying while gaining hands-on field experience. Collaborates with project managers, superintendents, and field teams to ensure project efficiency, compliance, and quality, while upholding safety culture. Responsibilities include assisting with cost estimates and proposals, preparing submittals and daily construction reports, site surveying, reviewing contract plans, and managing subcontractors; requires travel to project sites and adherence to regulations. Basic duties span office tasks, technical analysis, project documentation, and field oversight with a focus on quality control and safe, compliant project execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 0-3 years of experience in construction or engineering
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic project management software
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license, ability to drive for the company
Desired Qualifications
- Internship or co-op experience in construction or engineering, specifically site surveying, earthwork, In-Situ Stabilization, mechanics of solids (particularly of soils), hydraulics, theory of structure, strength of materials, engineering geology
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and USACE QCS systems
- Experience with site surveying using both conventional and GPS methods
- Assisting in the development of cost estimates and proposals
- Experience with materials procurement and purchasing
- Problem Solving & Risk Assessment: Evaluate risks and effectively resolve challenges, champion safety and deliver exceptional quality standards
