Job Summary
Project Engineer - Fire Resistance Testing role responsible for engineering services for the test lab, including analyses, calculations, and building code research; prepare drawings for new products and equipment; coordinate test schedules; write test protocols; review contract requirements and budgets; and provide client communication on codes, procedures, results, and reporting. Travel about 15% is required. The position emphasizes safety compliance, quality assurance, and developing proposals, with duties ranging from calculations and simulations to report preparation and industry meetings. Requires a BS in Engineering or closely related field, strong technical writing, and the ability to work independently and in a team; valid driver's license; and willingness to travel. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of construction materials, U.S. Building Codes, ASTM standards, and E.I.T. certification.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Engineering or closely related field of physical science, or educational equivalent
- Technical competence to effectively communicate test procedures, specifications, and results with customers while possessing skills in diplomacy conducive to working with clients through technically challenging compliance issues
- Capability of working both individually and within a team
- Proven leadership skills sufficient to supervise subordinate engineers and other technical team members
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required
- Expected to travel as business needs dictate
- E.I.T. minimum preferred
