Job Summary
Project Engineer supports the Segment/Discipline Manager in planning, coordination, and control of assigned construction segments for the USACE Flood Risk Control project in San Juan, PR. Focus areas include cost, schedule, quantities, and technical coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and contract-compliant construction activities. Serves as primary link between field operations and project controls, coordinating with Engineering, Quality, Environmental, and Commercial teams; supports self-perform and subcontracted works while coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews. Key duties include planning and tracking construction activities to schedule and budget, monitoring costs and productivity, participating in monthly cost closing and master budget updates, preparing quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns, reviewing submittals and RFIs, coordinating with subcontractors and self-perform crews, identifying deviations and supporting corrective actions, ensuring safety, quality, and environmental compliance, maintaining communication with field teams and client representatives, and supporting inspections, testing, and progress reporting to USACE.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 2–5 years of experience in heavy civil or infrastructure construction projects
- Experience supporting construction segments involving self‐perform and subcontracted works
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and quantity take‐offs
- Experience with cost control, production tracking, and reporting
- Familiarity with construction scheduling and progress measurement
- Understanding of field‐level contract administration
- High level of English (written and spoken)
