Job Summary

Project Engineer for Engine and Hybrid Powertrain OBD development. Responsible for supporting design, implementation, and calibration of On-Board Diagnostics strategies; evaluating monitoring boundaries; participating in diagnostic algorithm development, calibration, validation, testing, and certification; developing analysis scripts in Python to automate tasks and support virtual modeling and calibration; analyzing large datasets to identify trends and inform engineering decisions; developing BPU-level failures for smart sensors/actuators using CAN-based techniques; planning and executing engine, aftertreatment, and powertrain testing on dynamometers and vehicle platforms for gasoline and diesel; assisting with installation and operation of test setups for conventional and hybrid-electric configurations; documenting test results and producing technical reports for internal and customer reviews; collaborating with cross-functional teams (systems, software, calibration, testing, certification) to deliver OBD development projects; preferred knowledge of hybrid powertrain systems, US emission regulations, SAE J1939/J1979, engine hardware experience, and US citizenship/PR a plus.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/automotive engineering, Master's preferred
  • 1 to 5 years of experience in OBD calibration development and/or certification testing
  • Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and internal combustion engines
  • Regulatory understanding – CARB, EU-OBD, EPA-OBD, WWH-OBD
  • OBD calibration development tools experience (e.g., ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape/CANalyzer, Matlab/Simulink)
  • Experience with Python for data analysis and scripting
  • Experience in OBD data preparation for certification
  • Experience in OBD testing for certification, data consolidation and presentation
  • Engineer communication skills (oral and written English)
  • Team player in fast-paced development environment
