Job Summary
Lead engineering activities across product development phases from concept to production release; translate product requirements into manufacturable designs; create/approve engineering drawings, BOMs, CAD models, and specifications; develop and execute New Product Introduction (NPI) plans; track project status and escalate risks with mitigation plans; collaborate with mechanical/electrical/software engineers, suppliers, procurement, and operations; direct engineers to design components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks and 3DExperience; maintain engineering documentation; lead formal design reviews; champion Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFA); perform engineering calculations, DFMEA, FEA and simulations to validate designs for safety, reliability, and performance; prototype, test, iterate hardware, create/test plans, analyze data and implement changes; support production ramp-up with suppliers and manufacturing; lead change control and ECO coordination; troubleshoot field/production issues with root-cause analysis and corrective actions; ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards; mentor junior engineers and contribute to design standards and continuous improvement; strong cross-functional communication and project management skills; knowledge of PLM/PDM systems, materials/metals working knowledge, plumbing & hydraulics, refrigeration thermodynamics; familiarity with Lean Product Development; budgeting and cost containment basics; exposure to UL and ISO 9000 design requirements; ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience designing, launching (NPI) and supporting products in a manufacturing setting
- Proficient with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD
- Experience leading design reviews and cross-functional technical meetings
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Cross-functional project management experience
- Lean Product Development principles & tools
- Understanding of ISO 9000 or similar quality systems
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems (e.g. 3DExperience, SW PDM, Windchill, Teamcenter)
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining, injection molding)
- Basic understanding of UL certification process
- Familiarity with refrigeration cycle thermodynamics
- Ability to mentor junior engineers
- Prolonged desk-based work and ability to lift up to 40 pounds
