Job Summary
Lead and mentor junior engineers on technical design and project tasks for New York infrastructure bridge projects. Conduct detailed structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete, steel, and prestressed structures using software like STAAD and MathCAD. Prepare engineering reports, plans, specifications, and estimates while developing quantities and cost estimates to ensure projects stay within budget. Utilize CADD for detailed bridge plans and oversee field work including surveys, data collection, construction observation, and support for RFIs and submittals. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely delivery of PS&E contract documents and maintain quality control. Work on diverse public and private infrastructure projects for State and County agencies in a four-day work week.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- EIT
- 4–8 years of experience as a bridge engineer, including design, plan preparation, structural analysis, design, quantity calculation, and construction support services
- Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD
- Proficiency with MicroStation (ORD) or InRoads
- Proficiency with structural design software (LARS, STAAD, LEAP, etc.)
- Experience with NYCDOT, NYSTA, MTA, PANYNJ, and NYSDOT projects
- Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills
- Ability to work in team setting
- Ability to independently and accurately complete engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete and steel structures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications (including MS Project)
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license prior to employment
Desired Qualifications
- M.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
- PE license (but not required) or ability to obtain within 1 year after starting
- Familiarity with timber and masonry design
