Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary
Interpret project plans and specifications for subcontractors while coordinating with architects, engineers, and trade personnel. Manage submittals, RFIs, and change orders to ensure material procurement aligns with schedules, and maintain electronic document control procedures. Develop and track project logs, update as-built documents, and obtain construction permits. Assist in scheduling milestones, monitoring progress, and supporting cost tracking and budgeting efforts. Report project issues and risks to the Project Manager to facilitate mitigation. This role supports project managers across hospitality, tenant improvement, and restaurant renovation projects in Southern California.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience in hotel and restaurant construction or renovation projects
- Working knowledge of construction management methods and processes
- Basic understanding of construction legal requirements and business practices
- Familiarity with construction methods, building products, and applicable codes
- Ability to manage multiple project tasks and priorities simultaneously
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to break large projects into manageable tasks
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed
- Proximity to the Torrance office for regular in-office work

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
