Project Engineer

Job Summary

Maintain robust document control processes for drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals to ensure accurate design, fabrication, and field execution. Perform cost estimating and quantity takeoffs for structural steel components to support bid and change-order activities. Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues across design development, fabrication, erection, and commissioning phases. Support project scheduling by analyzing critical path timelines and dependencies to keep hyperscale data center programs on aggressive delivery schedules. Prepare high-quality technical reports, shop drawings, and as-built documentation meeting stringent quality and compliance standards. Contribute to continuous process improvements by researching and implementing new tools and technologies in steel engineering. Travel up to 25% of the time.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience supporting structural steel projects in industrial or data center environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of steel detailing, fabrication, erection, and associated building systems
  • Experience with document control, quantity takeoffs, submittals, RFIs, and change management
  • Familiarity with scheduling tools, BIM processes, and construction management software
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and technical writing abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions across design, fabrication, and construction phases
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation and project coordination
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and field teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-demand project environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain structured project documentation and workflows
  • Technical writing skills for preparation of reports, submittals, and project documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and expand into broader project and technical responsibilities
  • Adaptability and resilience in dynamic project environments with shifting priorities
  • Travel up to 25% of the time
