Job Summary
Air Quality Engineer (Project Engineer) role focusing on permitting, modeling, and regulatory compliance for industrial clients nationwide, with emphasis on PSD, NNSR, Title V, synthetic minor and true minor permits. Responsible for emissions calculations, engineering analyses, evaluation of control equipment performance, and preparation of modeling protocols. Conduct air dispersion modeling using AERMOD and CALPUFF; analyze and validate technical data; prepare and deliver review-ready reports and stack test documentation. Maintain project documentation within scope, schedule, and budget; communicate progress and constraints to internal teams and clients; foster relationships with regulatory agencies across multiple states; support multi-media environmental compliance (SPCC, stormwater, EPCRA Tier II/TRI, hazardous waste); stay current on environmental regulations and best practices. Qualifications include PE (preferred), a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Civil/Environmental Engineering, 8-15 years of air quality permitting and compliance experience, multi-state agency collaboration experience, and proficiency with modeling tools and Microsoft Office.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited university
- 8-15 years of experience in air quality permitting and environmental compliance
- Experience working with state and local air agencies, with multi-state experience preferred
- Experience in preparing air permit applications, with Title V experience preferred
- Proficiency with air dispersion modeling tools such as AERMOD and CALPUFF is preferred
- Working knowledge of multi-media environmental compliance programs including SPCC, stormwater, EPCRA Tier II/TRI, and hazardous waste
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
