Job Summary

Project Engineer to support design, construction, commissioning and qualification activities for newly created capital projects from concept design through validation of new processes. Collaborate with Design Firm, Equipment Suppliers, Constructors and cross-functional teams; manage scope across URS development, process design, equipment/instrumentation specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover to manufacturing. Support project management aspects including schedule and budget; assist with technical transfer and scale-up of processes into manufacturing; participate in EHS activities (Process Hazard Analysis, Pre-Startup Safety Review, Process Safety Management) and validation activities (FAT/SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ) and review/participation in QC documentation (CC/CSC, CAPAs, audit responses). Requires experience with P&IDs, facility layouts, piping standards, and automation systems (SCADA/PLC/BAS) and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Visio. Strong ability to work independently within multi-disciplinary teams and to support manufacturing in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical (or BioChem), Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent education/experience
  • 5 years of experience in pharma/biopharma and fine chemicals industry
  • 4 years of experience with P&IDs, facility layouts, mass and energy balances, solvent handling, equipment sizing calculations, user requirement specifications (URSs), standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process troubleshooting
  • 4 years of experience participating in small to large-sized projects through all phases including design, design review, process hazard analysis, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and qualification is desirable
  • Desirable familiarity with ASME BPE sanitary piping and equipment design standards; NFPA 70 / NEC; IBC; experience with SCADA, PLCs, BAS; IQ/OQ/PQ protocols
  • AutoCAD, Revit, Visio Engineering skills
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams including process development, manufacturing, validation, quality, safety, and project management
