Project Director - Electrical Engineering Utility Markets

Job Summary
Lead high-profile electrical engineering projects in Michigan's power and utility markets as the client lead and primary technical advocate. Drive growth by identifying opportunities, expanding client relationships, and positioning NTH’s electrical engineering services to meet evolving market needs. Manage all aspects of projects, including financial and technical components, provide technical expertise to clients and project managers, assist in recruiting and developing new professionals, and collaborate with the Director of Electrical Engineering to build the electrical engineering division. Requires 15+ years of leadership experience in electrical power, design experience in power distribution/substations/generation, professional registration in Michigan (or reciprocity), a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, willingness to travel to job sites/offices in Michigan, and strong communication, budgeting, and QA/QC capabilities. Desired Qualifications
- Professional registration in Michigan (PE)
- 15+ years of leadership experience in electrical power challenges
- Design experience in electric power distribution, substations, or generation
- Field experience in electric power distribution, substations, or generation
- Experience with project planning, budgeting, delegation, and management to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Experience negotiating project scope and fees with clients
- Experience advocating for clients with equipment manufacturers and construction contractors
- Experience leading and growing a team of diverse professionals
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with clients
- Willingness to travel to and conduct field work in Michigan
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Bachelor or Master’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
- ESOP/ownership-oriented culture experience (preferred)
- Driver’s license and ability to travel within Michigan
- Experience developing business strategies and growth opportunities for engineering services
