Job Summary

Project Director Electrical Engineering Renewables/Major Projects lead the newly formed Electrical Engineering Division, serving as the client lead on renewable and major private-sector electrical projects (BESS, Solar, Green-site substations) and expanding NTH’s presence in utility-scale and industrial markets. Responsible for leading large, complex projects, guiding technical design and interconnection strategies, coordinating with Markets and Directors, driving client acquisition and account growth, ensuring high-quality deliverables, recruiting and developing professionals, staying current with regulations and industry trends, and traveling to project sites in Michigan as needed. This role emphasizes leadership, client relationship management, technical authority in electrical power systems, and cross-functional collaboration across multiple markets.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a 4-year accredited college or university
  • Professional registration in Michigan or the ability to attain reciprocity
  • 15+ years of experience of demonstrated leadership experience providing technical solutions to electrical power challenges and with relevant experience as a consultant, client advocate, and/or account manager within the industry
  • Design experience and expertise in BESS, Solar, and/or Electric Substations
  • Field experience in renewables or electric substations preferred
  • Ability to organize technical material into comprehensive reports and perform QA/QC reviews on work product
  • Demonstrated ability managing large complex electrical projects ($1M+ engineering scope or multi-million-dollar construction projects)
  • Deep experience with project planning, budgeting, delegation, and management to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Experience negotiating project scope and fees with clients
  • Experience advocating for clients with equipment manufactures and construction contractors
  • Demonstrated ability to seek and establish new clients and build good business relations with both new and existing clients
  • Experience leading and growing a team of diverse professionals
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrate collaborative approach to problem-solving, and have ability to interact with clients to understand their needs
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
