Job Summary
Lead utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) asset development across the West Region from initial site origination through permitting, interconnection, and construction. Manage ISO/RTO queue positions, oversee transmission studies, and negotiate Interconnection Agreements while driving environmental and land-use permitting strategy across federal and state jurisdictions. Oversee land acquisition, option agreements, and site evaluations to secure real estate footprints, maintaining rigorous financial models and tracking regional budgets to ensure assets meet Final Investment Decision criteria. Coordinate with internal engineering, regulatory, and finance teams alongside external consultants and community stakeholders to advance projects efficiently. Based remotely in California with flexibility to visit regional hubs and project sites.
Required Qualifications
- 5 to 10+ years of direct experience in utility-scale renewable energy project development
- 10+ years of experience for Senior level candidates
- Demonstrated track record of advancing utility-scale solar, wind, or BESS projects in Western U.S. markets (CAISO, WECC, Desert Southwest)
- Deep knowledge of power markets and transmission constraints
- Strong command of land-use law
- Strong command of CEQA/NEPA permitting
- Strong command of interconnection processes
- Strong command of project economic modeling (PPAs, project spend, tax equity impacts)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Based remotely anywhere in California
- Willingness to travel to project sites across the Western region
