Job Summary

Conduct on-site surveys and audits of client sites including K-12 schools, higher education, federal, corrections, and healthcare facilities. Document existing conditions in predetermined software and develop scopes of work with energy calculations for both existing and proposed conditions. Manage projects from concept through completion, coordinating with teams and stakeholders to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards while leading technical staff, junior engineers, and subcontractors. Solve complex mechanical problems involving HVAC, water management, and building envelopes, ensuring all installations comply with evolving energy codes. Interpret blueprints, models, and technical drawings to optimize mechanical systems for energy conservation and decarbonization.

Required Qualifications

  • 75% travel around the country
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, with a focus on electrical, mechanical, environmental, or chemical engineering
  • Proficient in auditing: Domestic water, Process Water, Steam, Building Envelope, HVAC Armor, Demand control ventilation, Others
  • Experienced with several systems. Subject Matter Expert in at least one area or system. Working knowledge of several other areas of specialization
  • A strong understanding of engineering principles and a high level of proficiency in mechanical drawings and specifications
  • The ability to collect, analyze, and interpret energy consumption data to identify trends and anomalies
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to diagnose energy inefficiencies and develop cost-effective solutions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to prepare clear, concise reports and present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Able to effectively train the work group and effectively lead work teams within the work group
  • Able to give effective presentations to general audiences and write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for lab consumption
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to oversee projects from conception to completion, ensuring they stay on schedule and within budget
  • Meticulous approach to work to ensure accuracy in calculations, designs, and reports
  • The ability to stay current with evolving energy technologies, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Understanding of financial metrics like return on investment (ROI), payback period, and life cycle cost analysis to justify and prioritize projects
  • Proficient understanding of energy and water scope and documentation, measurement and verification practices
  • Proficient knowledge of estimating practices with internal and external resources
  • Possess and show a growth mindset for constant advancement in industry knowledge and divisional growth and efficiencies

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior work in the Construction industry is a plus
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Certified Water Efficiency Professional (CWEP), Project Management Professional (PMP) prefered
