Job Summary
Contribute to conceptual design development from programming through schematic design phases for educational facilities. Develop and refine design concepts that align with client goals under senior staff guidance. Coordinate with project teams, consultants, and clients on design-related tasks and documentation. Support junior designers by sharing ideas and best practices while participating in internal design reviews and client presentations. Maintain design quality and consistency across deliverables, collaborating closely with Job Captains and Project Managers during construction document phases. Research design precedents, materials, and building systems to inform project work, ensuring awareness of sustainable practices and emerging technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Strong design sensibility with solid conceptual and visualization skills
- Clear communication skills and comfort presenting design ideas in meetings
- Proficiency in design software, including SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite
- Good understanding of architectural design principles and building systems
- Ability to work collaboratively, take direction, and manage multiple tasks
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
- Approximately 3–6 years of professional experience in architectural design
- Evidence of increasing responsibility and contribution to project work
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in California educational facility (DSA) design
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a project team; some experience supporting or informally guiding junior staff
- Experience with Revit Architecture
- Interest or experience in educational projects and basic familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with visualization tools
- Desire to continue growing technically
- Open to Senior Designers with 6+ years of experience
