Job Summary
Project Coordinator for the Uyghur Cultural Archive: provide high-level administrative leadership, complex financial management, and cross-institutional project coordination within the Rahile Dawut Uyghur Cultural Archive. Lead workflows across multiple workstreams, supervise student staff, manage calendars and meetings with Elders and international partners, coordinate workshops and field activities, ensure confidential handling of sensitive archival materials, and translate/prepare communications in Uyghur (Arabic and Latin scripts), English, and Turkish. Strong knowledge of Uyghur language and culture, multilingual communication, and experience with budgets and grants (e.g., multi-fund budgets across SSHRC, grants) are essential. Requires independent judgment, cultural sensitivity, and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including community partners and university administration. Evening or early-morning work may be required to support international partners and events.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduation
- two year post-secondary diploma
- four years of related experience
- fluency in Uyghur (Arabic and Latin scripts) and English; Turkish fluency an asset
- strong organizational skills and ability to handle sensitive cultural materials
- ability to work with multi-stakeholder teams and handle confidential information
- experience with budgeting, financial processing, and project coordination
- ability to translate and prepare communications in Uyghur, English, and Turkish (strong asset)
- experience with metadata workflows and cultural archives preferred
