Job Summary

Conduct research in English and Spanish under the direction of research staff, adhering to protocols with fidelity. Screen potential subjects to determine eligibility for studies, interview families at the Arkansas Children's Hospital Emergency Department or clinics, secure informed consent, and administer the Children's HealthWatch questionnaires. Review questionnaires for accuracy, maintain confidentiality, track subjects, and perform follow-up tasks. Abstract data from medical records for entry into the Boston University database, assist in developing data collection instruments, and establish quality control protocols. Maintain interview lists, back up electronic data daily, and consult regarding translation of interview questions. Requires fluency in English and Spanish, cultural sensitivity, and three years of data entry or administrative support experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health education or promotion, community health, public health, sociology, social work, or related field plus three (3) years of data entry, administrative support, or customer service
  • Associate's degree in health education or promotion, community health, public health, sociology, social work, or related field plus five (5) years of data entry, administrative support, or customer service
  • Must be bilingual (Fluent in English/Spanish)
  • High level of cultural sensitivity and experience working with multicultural and low-income populations
  • Excellent interpersonal and written skills
  • Basic knowledge of and skill in data entry
  • Advanced level of computer program proficiency
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer data entry experience
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in research/interviewing
  • Strong interest in pediatric medicine, public health, social policy, advocacy, or nutrition
  • Knowledge of federal public assistance and other social services
  • 2 years of experience in research/interviewing
