Job Summary

Lead the implementation of the Sustainable Energy from Biogas in Solomon Islands Project (SENBIOSIS), providing overall managerial oversight for activities, budgets, and expected results. Coordinate closely with technical experts for strategic direction, supervise project personnel and implementing partners, and ensure performance monitoring aligns with UNDP standards. Exercise oversight of financial management, procurement, and risk monitoring while maintaining transparency with donor requirements. Facilitate liaison with government counterparts, development partners, and donors to strengthen partnerships and support resource mobilization for vertical climate funds. Represent the programme in national and regional fora, lead stakeholder consultations, and contribute to policy development for national strategies on climate resilience and renewable energy.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Engineering, Economics, Agriculture, International Development, Environment, Social Sciences or related field
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor's degree) in the above fields in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience
  • Minimum 2 years (with master's degree) or 4 years (with bachelor's degree) of progressively responsible experience in climate change-related projects involving the coordination of complex development programmes with multiple stakeholders, consultants, partners and donors
  • Experience in programme and portfolio analysis
  • Experience in resource mobilization in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, natural resources management and renewable energy
  • Proven experience coordinating and supervising multidisciplinary teams across different thematic areas
  • Experience ensuring effective planning, timely delivery of outputs, quality assurance, and performance monitoring
  • Experience coordinating integrated development projects involving multiple partners and technical experts in the sector of agriculture/livestock, natural resources management and renewable energy
  • Strong ability to organize and facilitate workshops, working groups, high-level meetings, and consultations involving government institutions, UN agencies, civil society, private sector actors, and community representatives
  • Experience collaborating with public institutions, including ministries and government agencies
  • Experience producing high-quality analytical and strategic reports (e.g., mission reports, donor briefs, concept notes, and policy documents)
  • Experience with UNDP/ knowledge of UNDP policies and procedures
  • Experience with vertical environment funds or climate funds (including the GEF, GCF and Adaptation Fund)

Desired Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience integrating gender equality and social inclusion considerations into climate change programmes
  • Experience conducting gender-responsive consultations
  • Contributing to gender analyses and/or gender action plans
  • Experience in least developed countries and/or remote environments
  • Previous experience with UNDP
  • Demonstrated experience supporting policy development, national strategy formulation, and planning
