Job Summary
Assistant Project Manager role coordinating schedules, budgets, and resources on large civil/construction projects; interfaces with contractors, designers, and owners regarding project cost, staffing, and scheduling; prepares change orders and monitors procurement/logs; reviews RFIs and submittals; plans staffing through regional heads; maintains project objectives and policies; liaises with prime client and A/E contacts to facilitate construction activities; oversees on-site supervision to ensure schedule and budget adherence; represents company in meetings, negotiates with clients/subcontractors, and monitors safety and compliance; manages contract financials, prepares progress payments, and develops cash flow projections; supports bid packages, confirms inspections and reports, and maintains coordination with Operations Manager; requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, 5+ years in construction, and strong MS Office/ CAD/ scheduling tool knowledge; salary range $120,000–$150,000 depending on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent required
- Five or more years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred
- Work experience in all disciplines of construction (civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing) preferred
- Must apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, such as tact, diplomacy, influence, etc., essential
- Must be a business-oriented person
- Ability to plan, lead, organize and communicate with customers
- Must be able to prioritize and manage time efficiently when coordinating projects
- Able to provide thorough analysis and proper planning to achieve goals
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows / Excel / PowerPoint / Outlook / Publisher
- Advanced skill level with MS Word
- Intermediate knowledge of Prolog software
- Knowledge of CAD 2000 or CAD 3-D is desired
- Scheduling knowledge of SureTrak and Primavera is preferred
