Job Summary
Project Controls Specialist (Cost Analyst) for LA education-sector projects. Responsible for ensuring integrity and accuracy of project budgets and forecasts, leading EAC discussions, performing cost variance analyses, risk assessment, change management input, and ensuring budgets align with funding sources. Collaborates with Project Managers/Construction Managers to maintain data coding structures, budgeting for contracts/change orders, and producing regular budget/forecast reports for senior leadership. Requires a BS/BA in a related field and 5–10 years of project controls experience, strong financial modeling and Excel skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-impact construction environment. Must be based in Los Angeles, CA, with in-person office presence and travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- BS/BA Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, and/or related degree
- 5 - 10 years minimum recent professional experience in project controls, particularly on a capital construction program
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Excel functions
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Proven track record of working independently and meeting tight deadlines
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
