Project Controls Consultant

Job Summary

Develop cost control functions for energy projects by establishing detailed project controls plans and managing progress reporting, including financial and earned value data. Prepare project budgets and estimates while coordinating team inputs to maintain baseline budgets and cost plans. Monitor change control requirements for scope, budgets, and schedules, and develop commitment schedules with earned value curves. Review invoices and progress payments for AECOM, subconsultants, and third parties to ensure accurate reporting. Communicate control needs and objectives to line managers and project personnel. This role is part of the AECOM Integrated Programme Controls team, supporting infrastructure projects globally with hybrid work options and availability for occasional travel to South Coast.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognised and accredited university
  • Experience working within key infrastructure markets
  • Demonstrable experience of the delivery of PMO best practice in a consulting environment on infrastructure projects and programmes
  • Experience leading project controls on projects or programs
  • Experience in scheduling, budgeting, cost reporting, progress and earned value reporting
  • Experience of a variety of project control systems
  • Experience in the preparation of cost control plans and procedures
  • Experience in the timely and accurate preparation of project weekly and monthly reports
  • Experience in the presentation of results and recommendations to senior management
  • Experience working to tight timescales
  • Advanced level proficiency with all MS Office products, including Outlook; Word; Excel; and PowerPoint; and Projects
  • Advanced level proficiency with Primavera P6
  • Advanced level proficiency with Power BI
  • A high attention to detail
  • A fundamental desire for always delivering the best possible product
  • The ability to deal efficiently with priorities
  • The ability to manage time appropriately
  • Comfortable working away from home on the South cost up to one night per week, or to be within commuting distance of both London and Brighton
  • All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a multi-discipline project environment
  • Experience of a variety of project control systems
  • Advanced level proficiency with Primavera P6 and Power BI preferred
