Job Summary
Oversee project-level accounting across the company's active construction and development portfolio by supervising a team of Project Accountants, approving monthly draw packages, and preparing financial reports. Manage vendor invoices, subcontractor billings, and bank reconciliations while performing high-level budget-to-actual analysis and variance reporting. Identify financial risks, escalate funding gaps, and coordinate tax returns with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy. Support new project onboarding, including chart of accounts setup and funding structure reviews. Serve as the primary liaison between project teams, lenders, investors, and municipalities to meet reporting obligations.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required in accounting
- CPA a plus
- A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in construction accounting
- experience preparing, reviewing and overseeing construction jobs
- Advanced experience in Accounts Payable
- Advanced experience in Job Cost
- Advanced experience in GL reconciliation
- ability to review and approve the work of others
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize across a portfolio of multiple, simultaneous projects
- Must have a valid U.S. driver's license
- Excellent quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills (using Excel)
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting
- Multi-Family or Low-Income Housing Tax Credit knowledge
Desired Qualifications
- LIHTC experience a plus
- Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or managing an accounting team preferred
- Jonas Premier experience preferred
