Project Accountant

Job Summary
Set up new projects in the accounting system, including job cost structures and project files. Enter and maintain subcontract, purchase order, and vendor information. Process and track change orders, manage subcontractor and supplier compliance, and prepare lien waivers. Coordinate with Project Managers and field teams to follow up on outstanding items and ensure accurate cost tracking. Process subcontractor payments, including printing and distributing checks in accordance with company procedures. Maintain organized and accurate project documentation and files. Assist in tracking and updating outstanding reports related to contracts, change orders, and compliance items. Ensure all accounting activities are completed accurately and in alignment with company policies and procedures. Support additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 1+ year of accounting or related experience
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 2+ years of accounting or related experience
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with project teams and vendors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Adobe
- Experience with construction accounting systems
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
