Job Summary
Project Accountant at an ESOP company providing financial management for multiple telecommunications projects. Responsible for maintaining accurate job cost records (labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, overhead), reviewing budgets and cost-to-complete forecasts, monitoring profitability and variances, preparing WIP schedules and revenue recognition entries, and issuing customer invoices (progress billings, T&M, milestones). Ensures FAR/DFARS compliance and certified payroll when applicable, maintains audit documentation, supports month-end close, and contributes to ESOP reporting and valuation. Works closely with project managers, field operations, and the Controller to deliver timely financial insights and robust internal controls; requires a BA/BS and 3+ years of project accounting experience in construction, telecommunications, or federal contracting; proficient in Business Central and Excel; capable of operating in a professional office setting in Peachtree Corners, GA with standard business hours and occasional extended hours.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of project accounting experience in construction, telecommunications, or federal contracting
- Ability to manage job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition
- Experience with FAR/DFARS compliance and federal contract billing
- Proficiency with Business Central software
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team
