Job Summary
Full project accounting ownership after budget approval for a General Contractor, including draw preparation, distribution, subcontractor pay applications, waiver processing, percentage of completion, and month-end close. Responsibilities include managing draw workflows, waiver collection, end-to-end waiver processing, multi-project portfolio analysis, and month-end close with journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. Requires 2+ years of project or general accounting experience, solid US GAAP knowledge, strong communication with project managers and subcontractors, and proficiency in MS Office; Sage/Viewpoint ERP experience is a plus. A degree in Accounting or Finance (Associate’s or Bachelor’s) is preferred. On-site in the northern suburbs (Chicago area).
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of project accounting experience preferred; will also consider candidates with a minimum of two years in a general accounting role
- Practical, working knowledge of US GAAP
- Highly detail-focused and process-oriented
- Excellent communication abilities
- Strong MS Office skills; experience with Sage, Viewpoint, or another construction-focused ERP is a plus
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
- Must be based in the northern suburbs; this is an on-site position
