Job Summary
Lead night shift progressive care operations for a 34-bed unit at a Level III Trauma Center, coordinating all functions from 7 PM to 7 AM. Monitor and evaluate nursing care while serving as the clinical resource for staff managing patients with chest pain, stroke, sepsis, and cardiac drips. Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient admission and discharge processes, and respond to rapid response and code situations with clinical expertise. Provide coaching, feedback, and training to improve staff performance, assist with scheduling for the 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio, and mentor staff through clinical ladder programs and PCU to ICU pathways. Ensure compliance with stroke certification standards and NIHSS protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited program
- Current Tennessee RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
- Previous Charge Nurse experience
- BLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- NIHSS Stroke Certification
- Strong clinical expertise in progressive care, telemetry, and cardiac monitoring
- Ability to work night shift (7PM-7AM)
- Ability to work rotating weekends (2 per month, Friday-Sunday)
Desired Qualifications
- Progressive care or telemetry charge nurse experience
- Experience with stroke patients, cardiac drips, and high-acuity telemetry
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification
