Job Summary
Programming Director responsible for the strategic programming vision across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms. Oversees development and scheduling of locally produced content reflecting New Jersey’s diverse communities; manages relationships with PBS and national content partners; ensures FCC compliance and E/I/closed-captioning standards; coordinates across platforms (broadcast, streaming, on-demand, YouTube); analyzes ratings and audience research to guide decisions; manages department budget and supervises staff; collaborates with PBS, APT, and NET A for acquisitions and underwriting; requires a Bachelor's in journalism or communications and at least five years in the field; Senior leadership with ability to balance national PBS content with locally produced programming and drive community-focused initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of professional experience in the communications, media, or related industry.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and creating video-based content.
- Experience at a PBS affiliate or public television station.
- Knowledge of PBS national programming catalog and clearance processes
- Familiarity with FCC programming requirements.
- Experience with broadcast programming management, scheduling, or traffic operations.
- Experience with Nielsen ratings and broadcast audience data analysis.
