Job Summary
Run fun, safe, and engaging activities for young people while building positive relationships with tamariki, rangatahi, whānau, and communities. Support youth development through encouragement, teamwork, and positive role-modelling, helping to plan programmes and share ideas for new activities. Promote positive behaviour in a calm, strengths-based way and assist with daily programme set-up, pack-down, and admin tasks. Follow child protection, health and safety, and Youthtown policies, sometimes helping with transporting young people where required. This role is a casual position in Oamaru for someone passionate about working with young people, offering a chance to bring energy and build confidence in a community-focused environment.
Required Qualifications
- A genuine passion for working with young people
- Confidence to lead activities and get involved
- Skills or experience in areas like sport, outdoors, arts, dance or similar
- Friendly communication skills and confidence talking with caregivers
- Reliability, flexibility and a positive attitude
- Cultural awareness and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow policies and safety guidelines
- Good organisation and time‐management skills
- First Aid certificate (or willingness to get one)
- NZ driver's licence (for some roles)
