Programme Manager, Gulf Sustain

Job Summary

Conduct stakeholder engagement and advisory services across the GCC region, including organizing multilateral convenings, delivering training sessions on worker welfare, and providing feedback on policies and recruitment strategies. Manage programme execution by contributing to day-to-day operations, overseeing communication strategy, and monitoring progress against the monitoring and evaluation framework. Develop fundraising proposals, build donor relationships, and collaborate with IHRB teams to identify synergies for ongoing projects. Draft and refine the programme's post-2027 strategy, identifying leverage points to influence policy and decision-making by business leaders and policymakers. Represent Gulf Sustain at external events and network opportunities while maintaining strategic alignment with the initiative's goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in at least one GCC country
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand Arabic
  • Candidates must have permission to work in the country of their location
  • Must be based in the GCC or within easy access to travel across the GCC on a semi-regular basis
  • Must be registered as self-employed
  • Candidates must be responsible for managing their own taxes, insurance, and any other legal or financial obligations
  • Travel will be required for this role, sometimes at short notice
  • Must be able to undertake work with awareness of political and commercial sensitivities and careful diplomacy
  • Demonstrable experience of contributing to the management of projects with multiple partners that span across countries and years
  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities or leverage points for engaging diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proven track record of contributing to the execution of a communications strategy and creating content/key messages
  • Ability to write and present clear, well researched pieces of content based on internal briefings
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a similar role
  • Excellent understanding of and strong interest in issues relating to one or more of the following: responsible business, worker welfare, shipping and trade, responsible investment etc.
  • Proven experience working with topics relevant to or actors operating in the GCC region
  • Must be able to identify practical leverage points to influence policy and decision-making by business leaders and policymakers
