Job Summary
Lead before and after school, day camp, and summer youth development programs by overseeing planning, implementation, and daily management of developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum. Supervise and evaluate child care site staff and volunteers, including hiring, training, and maintaining required staff-to-child ratios while conducting regular meetings. Maintain professional relationships with families, school personnel, and the community through newsletters, conferences, and event planning. Ensure site safety, cleanliness, and supply maintenance while managing the site budget and recruiting new enrollments. Maintain accurate records for attendance, immunizations, and discipline in compliance with YMCA and DEL standards. Work Monday through Friday from 6:45 am to end of school, with administrative hours and variable AM shifts based on program needs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 21 years or older to apply
- Three years or more of experience working with children, camps, childcare, tutoring or nannying
- One year or more of supervisory experience
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Have completed 30 credits of 100-level or above college-level coursework
- Ability to model and demonstrate Y values; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty
- Experience planning and implementing group activities
- We require pre-employment TB tests and MMR vaccination
- Must be able to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds
- Must be available for Monday – Friday 6:45am – start of schoolMonday – Friday end of school – 6:00pm
- Must be able to work 35-40 hours in a combination of admin and in ratio hours
- Must be able to support and/or substitute at nearby sites when needed
- Must be able to maintain required staff/child ratios
- Must be able to maintain required child/staff ratio
- Must be able to maintain required records according to YMCA and DEL standards
- Must be able to follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures
- Must be able to complete required training
- Must be able to report suspicious or inappropriate behavior
- Must be able to comply with mandated reporting requirements
- Must be able to ensure staff are properly screened, trained, supervised and held accountable to the organization's abuse risk management standards
- Must be able to attend staff meetings and trainings as required
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
- Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful
- 45 credits of 100-level or above college-level course work
- Previous experience in school age care programs and summer day camps
- Thrive on working in a collaborative environment
