Job Summary

Coordinate planning, scheduling, and execution of cross-functional project workplans, timelines, and deliverables for the Alex Haley Farm. Assist with coordinating materials for team meetings, retreats, and events, while supporting onboarding and day-to-day coordination with consultants, advisors, and partner organizations. Collaborate with internal communications to develop promotional plans across digital, print, and event-based channels, creating and distributing audience-ready content for convenings and rentals. Support outreach to new media, speakers, and community messengers, and organize book promotions and documentary screenings including author engagement and day-of-event logistics. Assist with event logistics from planning through closeout, including run-of-show support, room set-up, and vendor coordination. Maintain clear communication with cross-sector partners and help uphold a positive visitor experience aligned with CDF values. Organize exhibit installations, screenings, and program activations at the Farm and partner venues, including transport, set-up, and documentation needs. Assist with organizing, digitizing, and maintaining project assets and archival materials in accessible systems. Support drafting, editing, and distribution of program-facing resources, and collect community-submitted stories for project deliverables. Prepare periodic updates and progress reports for internal partners and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in program/project coordination, events, and/or communications
  • Understanding and commitment to the vision and mission of the Children's Defense Fund, Alex Haley Farm, and CDF Freedom Schools®
  • Demonstrated interest and commitment to improving the lives of children and their families
  • Ability to support and collaborate with colleagues in addressing organization-wide goals
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to be a team player in a fast-paced working environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work without close supervision
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with professionalism and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to meet tight deadlines
  • High level of maturity and ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies
