Job Summary
Design and implement comprehensive training programs for Public Safety personnel, overseeing system-wide initiatives including the Essentials of Aggression Management program. Customize content to meet operational needs of Valley Health entities while evaluating effectiveness through assessments and performance metrics. Manage the Gracie Medical Defense program by selecting, training, and evaluating instructors, and develop system-wide training schedules. Coordinate security assessments for urgent care centers and medical offices, providing implementation support for security recommendations. Maintain inventory of Public Safety equipment and training supplies, issuing, replacing, and recovering resources as needed. Prepare professional reports on program status and workforce readiness for senior leadership. Provide uniformed Public Safety services on an as-needed basis to support hospital operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Emergency Management, or related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Public Safety, Security, Law Enforcement, or related field
- Valid driver's license
- CPR/AED certification
- Aggression Management (e.g., Gracie Medical Defense or equivalent) Instructor
- ASP Baton Instructor
- OC Foam/Spray Instructor
- Handcuffing Instructor
- Taser Instructor
- Knowledge of Public Safety practices, emergency response, and workplace violence prevention
- Working knowledge of hospital safety, fire safety, and regulatory requirements
- Strong instructional, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Ability to develop training materials and evaluate program effectiveness
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills with attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership and interdisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and training tracking systems
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in training, instruction, or program coordination
- Healthcare or hospital Public Safety experience
- IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety) certification (e.g., CHPA or Basic/Advanced Officer)
