Job Summary
Program Manager for New Heights/New Connections in Sydney, NS, reporting to the Director, overseeing recruitment, supervision, and leadership of staff delivering youth services, programming, and case management for children with complex emotional/behavioural needs; responsible for program management, human resources, education and programming, and ensuring a safe environment while aligning with Children and Family Service Act and related policies; requires trauma-informed care understanding, strong leadership, collaboration with partners, and ability to recruit, motivate, and train staff across a 24/7 program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or acceptable equivalent
- several years of progressive experience supervising and/or managing a child and youth caring program
- valid driver's license, ability to travel, and access to a reliable vehicle
- knowledge of human behaviour, trauma-informed care, and motivation of young people to implement change
- understanding of child and youth caring treatment programs and safety and staffing issues in a child and youth care setting
- strong organizational skills, experience in program development, and ability in problem-solving in a similar environment
- leadership abilities and communication skills (verbal and written)
- ability to provide inspirational leadership, supervision of staff, and coaching on intervention strategies
- experience preparing and maintaining staff shift schedules, recruiting, motivating and training staff within a 24/7 program
- working knowledge of related policies and acts (Children and Family Services Act and Occupational Health & Safety Act)
- ability to foster partnerships and relationships with professionals and community partners
