Job Summary
Manage the daily operations of the on-site Coney Island Jobs Plus program, including planning, developing, and coordinating place-based activities for residents in Surfside Gardens and Coney Island developments. Provide direct supervision to four full-time and three part-time staff members while cultivating relationships with resident associations, local WorkForce 1 Center, employers, and community organizations. Develop and implement recruitment strategies to market program services, oversee workplace readiness training and financial capability programs, and ensure compliance with the HUD Jobs Plus grant requirements by preparing quarterly reports and operational workplans. Serve as the primary liaison for NYCHA, representing the program before government representatives, elected officials, and key stakeholders. This temporary, grant-funded position ends January 31, 2029, and requires a baccalaureate degree plus eighteen months of experience in social/human services or benefits opportunity specialist roles.
Required Qualifications
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
- Three years of full-time satisfactory experience working directly in social/human services or a related setting
- Experience providing client services
- Experience providing employment planning/counseling services which involves job development, skills assessment, and employment placement or other economic opportunity programming
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
- Eighteen months of full-time satisfactory experience working as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist
- Eighteen months of full-time satisfactory experience as described in one (1) above
- College credit from an accredited college may be substituted for this experience on the basis of 60 semester credits for 9 months of the work experience described above
- At least 18 months of full-time satisfactory experience working as a Benefits Opportunity Specialist or performing social/human services work as described in one (1) above
