Program Leader - After School Childcare

Job Summary

Coordinate daily operations for after-school programs, supervising youth ages 5-12 while facilitating arts, science, and dramatic play activities. Maintain a safe, clean environment by managing routines, snacks, meals, and playground supervision, ensuring all safety precautions are followed during programs and field trips. Collaborate with staff to plan activities, communicate regularly with supervisors and families, and report incidents of suspected child abuse to proper authorities. Work part-time shifts from 2:15/2:30 pm to 6:00 pm during school days or extended hours during breaks. Requires at least 460 hours of documented childcare experience and completion of mandatory trainings including CPR, First Aid, and Mandated Reporter training.

Required Qualifications

  • At least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Minimum 460 hours of documented experience working with children
  • Knowledge, understanding, and application of positive classroom management skills, positive reinforcement and child redirection
  • Ability to obtain all trainings required to work in a licensed childcare environment (such as CPR, First Aid, Mandated Reporter Training, Playground Safety, Injury Prevention and Medication Administration, as well as 15 hours of annual training provided by employer)
  • Pass TRAILS and CBI/FBI fingerprint background checks for working in licensed childcare
  • Must be able to push, pull or balance
  • Upper body strength is a requisite to lift/move a maximum of 50 pounds unassisted
  • Upper body strength is a requisite to lift/move a maximum of 200 pounds with assistance

  • Adequate hearing to hear patrons/co-workers communications up to 25 yards away

  • Ability to talk and hear via the telephone, e-mail, and through face-to-face communication
  • Ability to make quick, rational decisions in situations affecting the safety and well-being of program participants
  • Ability to carry out such decisions
