Job Summary
Conduct information hearings and reviews for the Housing Choice Voucher Program, evaluating evidence and drafting final written decisions. Identify and document program violations, collaborate with inspections and case management units, and refer cases for fraud review when appropriate. Interpret HUD regulations and agency policies to draft denial and termination notices, schedule informal hearings, and collect additional evidence for cases. Independently prepare hearing documents, present findings, and track compliance trends, risk indicators, and referral outcomes. Maintain complete electronic files and coordinate with legal review teams for subpoenas and public information requests.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a business or social service-related degree
- At least one (1) year of experience in low-income housing
- Possession of a valid Maryland driver's license
- Must be able to be covered under the Authority's vehicle insurance policy
- Section 8 Rent Calculation and Section 8 Occupancy certification within 12 months of employment
- Hearing Officer Training within 12 months of employment
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends as needed
- Successful completion of a prescreening investigation, including verification of employment history and education credentials
