Job Summary
Oversee daily operations of the Rock Wall and Gymnasium, ensuring safe, clean, and organized environments for all participants. Monitor climbing activities to enforce safety procedures and proper techniques, while conducting pre-shift and ongoing equipment checks on harnesses, ropes, and mats. Provide attentive supervision for children, teens, and adults, assist with harness fitting and belay procedures, and enforce facility policies and risk management protocols. Maintain cleanliness by returning equipment, wiping surfaces, and sweeping spaces. Respond to emergencies per action plans, communicate operational updates to supervisors, and support special events and programs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meets minimum age standards as established by state law and/or the Y
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
- Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire
- Completion of criminal background check and screening in accordance with YMCA standards
- Completion of required Child Abuse Prevention training prior to and throughout employment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with youth
Desired Qualifications
- one year or more of college
- Previous experience working with children
- Previous experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
- Ability to understand and comply with YMCA Child Abuse Prevention policies
