Job Summary
Review and process new and existing applications for Fuel Assistance, Energy, and associated programs to determine eligibility in accordance with federal, state, and SMOC policies. Interview clients to collect applications, enter data into the computer system, and gather required documentation to maintain client files. Process incomplete or denial letters, send vendor and client notices, and make home visits if necessary. Respond to client inquiries via telephone and provide front desk coverage as needed. Attend state meetings, outreach activities, and team meetings while communicating effectively with staff. Maintain confidentiality of all client and agency information and ensure full compliance with program requirements. This seasonal role includes a November 15 to March 15 moratorium on time-off and requires a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years prior office experience
- Hands-on experience with computers and MS Office
- Good verbal communication skills with a pleasant phone manner
- Strong organizational skills
- Detail orientated
- Flexibility with seasonal nature of program
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to meet insurance standards
- Mobility to use office machines
- Ability to sit
- Ability to stand
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs
- Ability to drive a vehicle
- Sensitivity to the work environment to protect client confidentiality
- Successful background check
