Job Summary
Guide Summit Experience Scouting guests throughout the premiere onsite high-adventure program of the Summit Bechtel Reserve, acting as the primary liaison between participants and staff. Become an expert on the program and property to provide front-line orientation, guidance, and coaching that models the Scout Oath and Law. Participate in camp-wide activities including campfires and evening programs while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Perform additional duties assigned by leadership and adhere to all staff handbook policies. Requires standing and hiking up to 10 hours daily with a 45-55 hour work week.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18+
- Excellent interpersonal communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
- Ability to stand, walk, and hike, up to 10 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
- Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp
- Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform
- Work Hours: 45-55
Desired Qualifications
- Scouting and/or camping experience strongly preferred
- High-level emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)
- Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focus
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skills
- Ability to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
