Job Summary
As a Program Eligibility Specialist, determine eligibility for state and federally funded programs and build trusting relationships with families. Conduct face-to-face and phone interviews to determine eligibility, process verification needs and prepare childcare contracts, maintain accurate files and documentation, communicate changes promptly to staff and families, attend meetings, perform mathematical computations related to eligibility, enter and manage data in approved software, collect and maintain data for reports and audits, and manage attendance records and parent fee billings. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish and may require a California driver’s license for travel. Duties may include travel and compliance with EOEO/ADA/Drug-Free Workplace policies. This role supports Early Head Start, Head Start, and State Child Development programs, with duties subject to change.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- bilingual in English and Spanish
- valid California driver's license may be required for travel
- two years of education and/or experience in related field
- one year of experience in client casework or eligibility setting
- Associate’s Degree preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- combination of related education and/or experience totaling five years in administrative functions, case management, or eligibility determinations
Desired Qualifications
- bilingual in English and Spanish
- two years of education and/or experience in related field (e.g., Child Development, Social Science, Human Development, Liberal Studies)
- one year of experience in client casework or eligibility setting
- Associate’s Degree preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred

- valid California driver’s license and travel requirements may apply
