Job Summary
Directly supervise, coach, and counsel the Summit Experience team to ensure guests have a safe and fun experience while providing front-line orientation and guidance to all participants. Communicate with guests and staff to implement adjustments based on feedback and deliver formal performance evaluations. Write end-of-season reports detailing inventories, recommendations, and department improvements. Participate in camp-wide activities including campfires and ceremonies, model the Scout Oath and Law, and maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area. Perform additional duties assigned by leadership and abide by staff handbook policies. Requires a valid driver's license, minimum age of 21, and experience in Scouting or outdoor recreation. Work involves standing, walking, and hiking up to 10 hours daily with a 55+ hour schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age: 21+
- Valid driver license and ability to obtain driving permit
- Experience in Scouting and/or outdoor recreation
- National Camping School Resident Camp/Program Director card (training provided)
- Ability to stand, walk, and hike, up to 10 hours daily
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
Desired Qualifications
- Two or more years' leading teams or Summit work experience
- High emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)
- Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focus
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skills
- Ability to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
