Job Summary
Lead, coach, and counsel Scout Camp staff to ensure safe and fun experiences for guests aged 10-17. Train team members in Summit policies, leadership, and instructional skills while communicating with guests and staff to implement adjustments based on feedback. Provide mid/end-season evaluations, write end-of-season reports with inventories and recommendations, and participate in set-up, take down, and camp-wide activities. Model the Scout Oath and Law, maintain a clean and safe work area, and perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership. Requires standing, walking, and hiking up to 8 hours daily with the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age: 21+
- Previous Scouting and/or outdoor recreation experience
- Valid driver license and ability to obtain Summit Driving Permit
- Obtain the National Camping School Camp Resident Camp Director or Program Director card (training provided)
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
- Ability to stand, walk, and hike, up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
- Work Hours: 55+
Desired Qualifications
- Previous management and leadership experience / previous Summit experience
- High-level emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)
- Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focus
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skills
- Ability to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
