Job Summary
Lead a team of policy experts to support governors and state executive leaders on health policy, develop policy principles to inform federal policymaking, and produce resources shaping national debates. Responsibilities include identifying and developing health policy solutions (health care costs/coverage, Medicaid access, public health, workforce transformation, behavioral health, maternal/child health, public health preparedness), managing projects and budgets, briefing governors’ staff, facilitating cross-agency collaboration, writing project concept papers and proposals, and coordinating with funders. The role requires full-time presence in Washington, DC, and entails organizing workshops, conferences, and events, plus travel; strong writing and spoken communication to engage policymakers and stakeholders. Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing project teams, setting performance goals, implementing internal controls, and guiding staff development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in public policy or a related field
- minimum of eight to ten years working in policies and programs within the portfolio
- experience with governors, federal/state agencies, nonprofits, foundations, or corporations is preferred
- strong interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to engage diverse stakeholders
- ability to manage budgets across multiple projects; travel as necessary
