Job Summary
Oversee day-to-day operations of the funded Department of Youth & Community Development SONYC contract, ensuring an 85% Average Daily Attendance and implementing core components including Academic Support, STEM, and Physical Activity. Coordinate outreach, enrollment, and major events while supervising part-time staff and serving as the primary liaison for school administration, parents, and community entities. Facilitate live and remote activities using web-based platforms, monitor participant engagement and safety, and conduct periodic assessments to refine curricula. Manage facility maintenance, ensure compliance with DOH regulations through quarterly inspections, and prepare monthly calendars and budget plans. Respond to all communications within two business days and seek at least three new partner opportunities annually. School year schedule runs Monday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, with some evenings and weekends required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least three (3) years of experience working in a community center or school-based after-school program
- At least two years of which were in a supervisory capacity
- Required to obtain SACC Program Director's (30-hour) credentials
- Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and take initiative
- Effective oral, written, and collaborative skills
- Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementation of structured programming for students in middle school
- Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance
- Must be computer literate
- Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects
- Must be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with the school's administration & personnel
- Knowledge of the public education system and positive youth development best practices
- Strong public speaking, writing, and organizational skills
- Must demonstrate knowledge of New York State Learning Standards
- Experience working with students in urban school and/or community-based settings
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Commit to Grand St. for two years if awarded a funded personal development or education grant
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with program budgeting and fiscal management
- Familiarity with DYCD Connect and database management
- Spanish speaking
- Knowledge in STEM, Health & Sexuality, Careers & Life Planning, Sports & Adventure, and Academic Enrichment
