Job Summary
Program Director for the COMPASS after-school program in Brooklyn, responsible for day-to-day operation, supervision of staff, and ensuring high-quality services. Leads program development, coordination of outreach/enrollment, attendance targets, curriculum and activity planning (including STEM, enrichment, and wellness components), partnership development, remote/online engagement when applicable, and compliance with DYCD requirements. Requires a Bachelor’s degree, several years of supervisory experience in youth programs, credentialing for SACC Director, strong communication and organizational skills, budget awareness, NYS standards knowledge, and ability to collaborate with school administration and families. Spanish language is a plus; includes duties such as scheduling staff, data reporting, and maintaining SCR/fingerprint clearance throughout employment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least three (3) years of experience working in a community center or school-based after school program; at least two years of which were in a supervisory capacity
- To obtain a SACC Program Director's (30 hour) credentials
- Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and take initiative
- Effective oral, written, collaborative skills
- Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementation of structured programming for students in middle school
- Familiarity with Program Budgeting; fiscal management a plus
- Familiarity with DYCD Connect and database management is a plus
- Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout employment
- Experience working with students in urban school and/or community-based settings
- Must be computer literate
- Spanish speaking is a plus
- Must be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with the school’s administration & personnel
- Knowledge of the public education system and positive youth development best practices
- Knowledge in STEM, Health & Sexuality, Careers & Life Planning, Sports & Adventure, and Academic Enrichment highly desirable
