Job Summary
Program Director and Senior Fellow at CNAS’s Indo-Pacific Security Program. Lead strategic direction, research agenda, and program leadership; manage a team of researchers and contributors; secure funding; produce policy-relevant analysis (reports, memos, articles, op-eds); engage senior government officials, thought leaders, and foreign partners; and represent CNAS in media and public outreach. Responsibilities include developing a vision and strategy for the program, budgeting and resourcing, overseeing research and outreach activities, coordinating with CNAS leadership and donors, and mentoring staff. Required capabilities include a strong track record in Indo-Pacific security policy, policy publications, fundraising experience, project management, communications with officials and media, and the legal right to work in the United States; candidates should be based in Washington, D.C. or willing to relocate.
Required Qualifications
- Strong education, research, and policymaking background in the U.S.-India relationship and India’s role in the world
- Demonstrated track record of policy-related publications
- Established networks on both sides of the Pacific
- Project management experience and an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Commitment to CNAS’s mission of developing the next generation of national security leadership through training and mentoring junior staff
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising from foundations, the private sector, and individual donors
- Ability to communicate effectively with elected, appointed, and military officials, donors, and other colleagues
- Demonstrated experience working with the media (print, television, radio, podcasts, and other multimedia) and familiarity/experience with social media
- Legal right to work in the United States
- Based in Washington, D.C. or willing to relocate upon job offer
