Job Summary
Assist the Sr. Group Leader in daily operations at Seaton Elementary School, including planning, developing, and implementing before and after school activities under the YMCA Power Scholars Pre-School curriculum. Aid in establishing structure, routines, and behavior guidelines while ensuring child safety and emergency procedure implementation. Maintain an attractive, clean classroom and communicate effectively with parents throughout the program year. This part-time role runs Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is a leading nonprofit in the DC area dedicated to nurturing youth potential, promoting healthy living, and fostering social responsibility.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- CDA within 18 months of employment
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test
- Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting
- Meet the county/state licensing requirements
- Critical skill of being able to relate to parents, school staff and children
- Positive, creative attitude
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Physically active to play games and sports with the children
- Ability to pick-up at least 35 pounds
- Visual acuity to observe all children
- Monday - Friday 3:00pm - 6:00pm
