Program Coordinator for English/Social Studies

Job Summary
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of English Language Arts and Social Studies programs at the high school level. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and stakeholders to analyze student achievement data, align curriculum with district standards, and facilitate professional learning opportunities. Coordinate instructional materials, monitor compliance with state and federal requirements, and support academic interventions and enrichment initiatives. Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance instructional effectiveness while maintaining accurate records and communicating progress to all parties.
Required Qualifications
- South Carolina certification English or Social Studies
- Valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation
- Negative TB test results
- Knowledge of current educational research, instructional best practices, curriculum design, and assessment strategies
- Thorough understanding of state academic standards, graduation requirements, and accountability systems
- Ability to analyze and interpret student performance data to inform instructional decision-making
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community partners
- Proficiency in educational technology and data management systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a dynamic educational environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
- Familiar with educational technology tools
- Strong classroom management skills and a growth-oriented mindset
- Clear verbal communication and strong listening skills
- Ability to read and assess student work, view computer screens, and monitor student behavior visually
- Ability to hear student questions and school announcements
- Must manage interpersonal dynamics, conflicts, and communications in a professional and respectful way
- Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials, textbooks, or student work (typically up to 20 lbs.)
- Must be able to stand or walk around the classroom, especially when giving instruction, monitoring students, or using whiteboards/projectors
- Must be able to project voice in noisy environments or large classrooms
- Must be able to use hands to write on boards, type, handle classroom materials, and operate technology (computers, tablets, projectors)
- Must be able to sit for extended periods while planning lessons or grading but also stand or move frequently while teaching
- Must be able to work indoors in classrooms, often with limited temperature control in older buildings
- Must be able to work with exposure to chalk dust, markers, cleaning supplies, and sometimes poor ventilation
- Must be able to work in classrooms that can be noisy during group work
- Must be able to work standard school hours, but also work before and after school for planning, grading, meetings, or extracurricular activities
- Must be able to work evening or weekend work for lesson prep, grading, parent communication, or professional development
- Must be able to manage breaks that are limited and structured around school schedules
- Must be able to have constant interaction with students, parents, administrators, and colleagues
- Must be able to submit official transcripts, three professional references with at least one supervisory reference and a copy of the appropriate credentials as part of the application process
- Must be able to undergo a criminal history background check
- Must be able to provide personal information necessary to complete the background check such as date of birth, gender, and race
- Must be able to submit TB test results and complete designated employment tasks
- Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily
